Two Martinis Later.....

Log in to see fewer ads
With Blue cheese stuffed Olives, no less........So, at 16 years old, I shoot a crow off of a log at least 200 yards with a 22-250. Next, at 19 years of age, I hit a squirrel at 75 yards with a 16 gauge model 37 Winchester "on the run as it jumps over a log" ...I kill it dead. All in front of my Dad's hunting buddies at the end of the day of hunting, they are all drunk by the way. Next up at 47, I am introduced to a re-curve bow and told to shoot a water bottle at 50 yards and having never shot a bow before hit it dead rights.....at least water squirts from the bottle.

So I decide at 60 years of age to take up bench rest shooting .22 cal. What a mistake. What is wrong with me!

I have never seen so much variation in bullet holes in my life. What the %%%% am I doing wrong. I have read up on Parallex, Scopes, and cheek weld, variations in 22 ammo and finding the right ammo your gun likes to shoot. Brands of .22 rifles and I have purchased a few....too many to justify to the wife.

I am driving myself nuts. Is there any cure?

Anyone who spends large amounts of money in the pursuit of making small holes in a piece of paper, where the ultimate achievement is to shoot as many expensive rounds as possible with the creation of only a single hole, is probably insane.
