OK got the one from Champions Choice and the Redfield sight i have doesnt fit it right .Screw is a smaller thread on the sight and it doesnt fit the dovetail right either . What model Redfield is this mount for ? I dont know what mine is ,all its says is Redfield on it ,no numbers or other name .
Just guessing, but you've probably got a Redfield 75 sight which has the smaller threaded screw. You are trying to mate it to a mount that is designed to fit the Redfield Olympic, International, or Palma. These three use the larger screw. Look specifically for a Redfield 75 receiver mount.
OR, you could order a Redfield Olympic, Palma, International screw off EBay and then drill the hole in your sight slightly larger. The screw threads into the mount to tighten it. There are also threads on the sight itself but those are just to keep the screw captive, not to secure the sight to the mount.
Don't know about the groove mismatch. Both my 75 and my International (and Palma) rear sights have a groove that matches the receiver mount. It's just the screw size that is different.
The Redfield 75 series were designed for the midrange priced, smaller receiver target rifles -- such as the Win. 75, Rem. 513T & 540X and others. As such, their windage range is shorter and when used on something like the 40X or Win. 52, the larger diameter of the receiver uses up a substantial portion of the windage travel just to get to the midpoint of the receiver. Also, they were not of the quality of the Olympic, International and Palma sights, which are better choices for the 52.
Watch the Trading Post section here on the forum.. They came up for sale every now and then. Remember too that these sights haven't been made in quite a while so you will no doubt pay a premium for a decent sight. Nothing worse then buying something that doesn't work properly, especially a rear sight.
Just to expand a little on the information from SBS: If I recall correctly the Redfield Olympic came first, then was replaced by the International (what I'd guess would be called the 2nd Gen), then the International was replaced by the Palma (3d Gen?). However all three are still available in the aftermarket. If I were looking for a Redfield then the Palma would be my choice, as it would be the peak of development. I got rid of my Olympics, should have kept one. Just have a 75, International, and Palma now. Still looking for one of the mounts to adapt the Palma to an 11mm grooved receiver.
