I bought a pretty unusual break action never seen another down here and believe its pretty scarce in the US also.

A H&R model 157 22 magnum, it has the full wood stutzen style stock made for 1 year in 1976 so my research tells me.

Would love to fit a 5mm barrel to it, I did contact by email a fellow officer over there but he has not been active since 2016 in the hopes of buying the reamer he had no luck so far.

Not sure if I would have to use a stub if so that's going to be hard down here or if the rib can be fitted to the underside of the barrel

I am up the bush at the moment photos on the home computer but I did post one on the H&R Marlin forum here if you head there you will see it. No interest there which surprised me a little being such a rare bird.

Liner would work but i'd like to keep the 22 mag barrel also

Any H&R Sportster rimfire barrel would need fitted to your action to close and lock up properly, then a .204/5mm barrel liner installed and chamber reamed to 5mm RFM. Depending on the OD of a barrel liner, a 22 Hornet donor barrel may work also.

Other barrels may require a standard fore end, shouldn't be hard to find.

Bit late getting back on this have been having shooting rabbits with the 592 once I pried from my wifes hands, she's having a ball on the bunny patch.

I am still awaiting the arrival of my H&R 157, the fitting rib on the bottom of the barrel couldn't a smith just use a 20 cal barrel and silver solder a rib to the underside then fit to the action

Glass I see you were doing a 17 WSM on the H&R did that work out ok?

The H&R 17WSM project went well for me the second time, the first time a "gunsmith" ruined the barrel while cutting the chamber on a lathe. The second I hand reamed, got a good chamber. It shoots very well but, the thick 17WSM case caused a lot of misfires. I cured the misfires by using 2 hammer springs, and a different hammer to eliminate the transfer bar. It has a very good firing pin imprint now.

Just me, but I think that using a rimfire H&R barrel fitted to your action, installing the .204 barrel liner and cutting the 5mm chamber would be less trouble.
