Savage LV mounts - new info

OK, for those who care,

I called Savage Canada and spoke with the folks that build the LV. They told me the scope mounts are supplied by Kwik-Site (based in Michigan) and that the part number is the KS-12.

I spoke with Kwik-Site and they told me the mounts are 6.95 a set plus $4.00 S&H within the CONUS. The mounts are aluminum, anodized gloss black.

Sorry for taking so long to reply. The bases on my LV are stamped "k-12". It looks like maybe the previous owner of your gun replaced the factory bases for some reason. It sounds like you are getting the right bases so everything should work out fine.

No Prob. I appreciate the confirmation. Even factory staff make errors once in a while. Nice folks to talk to though. Wonder if they do plant tours? The plant is up north of Toronto and a bit East around the lake.

They did say that their shipments get a lot of scrutiny at the border since 9/11. That is apparently part of why Savage USA does not offer the mounts separately. You would think that since the mounts are made in MI they could just ship direct to NY for the service center.
