Shot my first USBR targets yesterday. Gave me a real workout. Don't know how they'd score...but I had a lot of fun with the wind and my "needing improved" shootin' skills...

Custom Ruger 10/22...50 yds, Wolf Target ammo...Weaver 15 power scope...

Smokin, for official scoring, it's one shot per bull and then you add the score from the 25 bulls. You can shoot all you want @ the three sighters on the top.

SG- May I suggest you move in to 25 yards and try from there, shooting one shot per bull. It'll give you an idea of where you are at with current rifle, rest, skill level and especially the current scope. 15x will be nice at 25 yards.

What are you using for a rest?

Do you have a scoring plug yet? If not, think about ordering one and entering the email matches. The plugs make an enormous difference (in your favor) when you start adding up the scores.

Have fun, I love shooting those targets.

Talking I've always wanted to do that = 125 rounds

Actually Smokin' that's not bad at all - Notice every shot is inside the #4 scoring rings.
Good shooting. - Looks like you had fun!

Thumbs up You're On Your Way

Hi Smokin Guns,
That looks like good shootin to me. Like Ziplok pointed out, there isn't one shot outside of the 4 ring and most are a darn sight better. I think your best bet for seeing how to score and shoot the targets is to go to the "The E-mail Match Rules" Sticky at the top of this forum. Joe Haller did a great job of laying it all out and there are figures with how to score.
Hope you join in and post scores for April. Oh, I highly suggest that you get a scoring plug. As someone else said on here "The scoring plug is your friend ." More often than not, using the plug will gain you a point or two that you wouldn't have given yourself using the ol' eyeball method.
Jim

Careful, there, Jay~

I noticed that 17 out of the 25 are in the lower right quarter and the sighters are all but two in the lower right quadrant.. You can take your scope up and to the left just a tweak. That would make a WORLD of difference in your score...

I'm guessing you could raise it both directions about 5/8" or so.

Ron

You know, I think I'm going to use USBR for group tests, 5 at each bull, 5 across, then switch ammo for the next row.

Beats buying grid paper targets, and good practice for aiming at green monsters. Plus I'll claim that the best shot on each bull was the first shot!
