RFC Slow?

Is anybody else having trouble with RFC being really slow? It's been going on for me for the last coupla days. At first I thought it was my computer, but then I realized it wasn't happening on any other site. Almost every time I want to go to another page I have to click "refresh" and them wait. Otherwise everything is fine.

I wouldn't mind so much, but I come here more than anywhere else.

I had trouble until I installed an ad blocker. I found Adblock Plus on the Mozilla site because I use Firefox, but there are other ad blocker apps out there too. It cleared the issues right up for me.

If I go to RFC without logging in, then I get the pop ups....and slow service. But if I log in, I don't have any issues. Or at least that was the way it was the last time I opened RFC without logging in.....but I'm leaning on defective memory here.

Otherwise, it has been working fine for me.

Yahoo mail has been causing me some issues similar to what you describe.

Install AdBlocker Plus, will clear up most of the problem. My old computer dissolved in scattered electrons a month or so back along with the blocker I had then. New one I was running w/o adblocker and snail slow would be speedy for it until I got back with that app.

Me too. RFC has seemed sluggish recently. Lots of "blocked plugin" messages, most of which I think are due to the Chrome browser and it's embedded version of Adobe Flash. Doesn't play well with some websites. I finally found a tech tip that helped resolve it, but I'm not sure it is perfect. However, I don't think all the slow, lock up, skip to the bottom of the page, etc. problems are due to the Chrome/Adobe/Flash conflict, since I still am experiencing the quirky behavior on RFC, just not quite as much as before.

Now that you mention it, I switched from Chrome to Firefox for those reasons. Also downloaded AdBlocker Plus, and that was a big improvement.

As far as the skipping to the bottom of the page, I think that is due to the photos taking time to load up and having your cursor set to jump automatically....that can be changed in settings.

Or not......

It's the extra terrestrials that live in the INTERNET.

Seriously though there are about a zillion reasons for stuff like that happening and unless you want to spend a whole lot of money and get stuff like core dumps and a system analyst you will never be sure what happened.

In most cases though, INTERNET Service Providers, search engine providers, and software providers such as Microsoft are checking to see if everything is running to spec and if not then they will "patch" whatever so the problems magically disappear.

Often they do that "invisibly" and you never know if you got one.

OPINION: IMO while it may not apply to RFC the "cloud" approach has some collateral damage that goes with it and some really strange things can happen.

Check and see if Flash Player is running. Disable it if you can and see if that makes a difference.
