My first three about 2 inches, my last gun an inch or under. My last gun is suppose to be Canadian made, the first three American made. Had to try several types and lots of ammo. First lot of Hornady vmax ammo shot very poor, my last lot shoots a lot better. CCI shot poor, but only had one lot, NTX was in the middle, again only one lot.

I returned three of the ones that were suppose to be the ones made in America, they had different problems and none were very accurate. The last replacement was suppose to be a canadian made gun. It functions as it should, and is much more accurate than the first three. If I thought I could get another one as good as this one, I would probably buy it. I will probably send it off to get it cryo treated. When I have an accurate gun I get it cryo treated to bring out maybe just a little more accuracy, plus it should make the barrel last longer. When I have a gun that shoots large groups I do not waste money on cryo treatments. The hardest part is finding a good lot # of shells.

This is very disappointing. I’ve been waiting for this rifle since it was announced. I hope Savage Arms is monitor this forum and doing something to make it better.

I had two lots of ammo that would not shoot well in either my marlin or any of the a17's. I did have an older lot of ammo and a new lot of ammo that shot well in this gun. If anyone buys one of these guns, you may be fooled into thinking it is inaccurate if you do not have a good lot # of ammo. My newest a17 is great. Savage works with customers. I bought a 17 HMR revolver from a different company that had serious issues, and they were unwilling to repair the problem, I wish that was a savage, the problem would have been fixed.

i haven't done it, i don't own one of these "yet", but cave dweller on youtube done an a17 hmr & it helped it a bunch, then it turned into a tack driver after he bedded it. these stocks are junk.

I bedded a factory stock, it was one from an HMR. You could try bedding a factory stock first.

What kind of accuracy was the plastic stock to wood stock to glass bedded wood stock? I'm looking to pull the "trigger" pretty soon on one of these as well. Speaking of triggers how was yours on your A17 mach 2?

I do not have a wood stock, I just bedded a plastic stock. A bedded wood stock may be better, but I can not say. I stayed with the plastic because of weight. If I was looking for the best possible accuracy I would have tried a wood stock. I carry this gun to hunt rabbits and want it light weight. I am down to 3/4 inch groups average. At most ranges I shoot rabbits this will work. First you must find a gun that is accurate, then good luck finding a super accurate lot # of ammo. My good shooter does not have an N in the front of the serial number.

80 yards, trigger was 3.75 lbs at the lightest pull. A different spring, got it down to 2.60 lbs. I did not try any lighter than that, I put the spring in and that is where it was. When I try to take out the lighter spring I make up, they uncoil and are ruined, I then have to make a new one just shorter. Too light and they do not reset the trigger.
