I just got a Simmons WTC 18, love it. Only problem is that the 50 mm objective lens hangs about 1/8 of an inch above my barrel. I cant put the lens cap on the scope. I have seen elevated mounting rails about for around $20 which seems reasonable. My question is will rising the scope about 3/8 of an inch do anything "adverse" in the parralax department?

I have bought the NcStar see through mounts from the seller on ebay. Do a search for 10/22 and look for them. 12.95 delivered. I just bought 5 more of them. I have not noticed any problems with anything on the one I have installed.

I was thinking of getting that for my jackrabbit slayer so I can use the iron sights if my red dot battery dies. Do you get a good sight picture through those?

bdhill,

if you are worried about your flip ups, try trimming them a tad. the bottom part.
that scope is kinda big and unless you wanna go with xtra high rings, which i dont care for, unless you have a high cheekpiece. JMO.

There is the rub, I have a hogue OM stock which doesnt have a high cheek rest. I cant go up too far without straining my neck to see through the scope.

The tunnel through mount measures about 1/4 inch wide and 3/8 high to the bottom of the bevel for the rings. I don't have anything with open sights so this is the best I can offer.
