Stock refinishing

Has anyone sanded and restained a laminated stock? I want to darken mine. Any suggestions for going about this? Thank you

Just a couple of tips from my experience with lam stocks: one of the aniline dyes will be much more effective than any 'stain', and obviously, remove all of the original finish using paint stripper. Don't try to remove finish by sanding, it usually is only partially effective. Sand after stripping to about 320 or 400 grit.
