Happy Father's Day - 1977 Marlin 781

Hello everyone - first time here on the Marlin subforum though I've posted on RFC under High Standard and Ruger.

Just scored a vintage 781 in very nice to excellent condition off the Virginia Gun Trader site. Came with sling, Bushnell 4x-32 scope and see through rings (not marked but supposed to be Leupold). $200 all in. I've been interested in picking up one of these because it chambers .22 shorts and longs in addition to lr. This is my second Marlin rimfire, also have an XT-22M which I've been very happy with.

Not sure I like the high rings on a .22, and will probably replace the Bushnell with a Weaver rimfire scope, but really happy with my new acquisition!

Looking forward to participating in the forum!

Ed

That sure is a good looking 781! I would loose those rings if it were mine.

the 781 was my first 22 and 1st gun. its nice to take it out every once in a while. had some scope on mine for a while, but when i do that, they never stay on that long. I like using iron sites for the general plinking.

thats in great condition from what i can see.
