My GSG 1911 project is finished

I finished with it Friday. Now I'm waiting on the weather to improve some before I can go sight it in. I have function tested it out in the pasture with both SV and HV ammo. Now I need to get some groups on paper to see what reasonably priced ammo it likes.

Other than the obvious, what did you do to it, what parts did you replace?

Looks good

I just did one too. But I bought just the GSG upper conversion for a 100.00 and put together a strpped Rock Island lower for it. That way I can later put together a .45 slide assembly and shoot both calibers later on. Well that is if .45 ammo ever comes back in stock someday.

Only thing I did to mine is put a full length stainless guide rod in it..I had the Stainless full length guide rod and bearing here in my parts..Do not even know what it was from.May have been from a Colt 22 conversion upper. My original recoil spring fit it perfect. Did not like the cheap one they had in it.Looked liked cheap junk to me.

All else seems fine other than that chincey guide rod it had originally.

Mine runs great and is very accurate also.

You did very well on the upgrades. Looks a lot like mine. I used CWA accessories but Tailor base pads to get 16 rounds in a magazine.

Mine like high velocity ammo the best. SV works pretty well but the HV proves to be a tad better with no FTF or FTE errors.

OK, here is the list.

Taylor Tactical: full length guide rod and recoil spring, barrel thread adapter and muzzle brake, flat main spring housing and grip safety, 16# mainspring, 3 round magazine extension, and slide racker.

Wilson Combat: Extended mag release and mag well.

Hogue: grips.

Ebay vendor: Stainless grip screws.

CW Accessories: Extended slide release.

NcStar: The sight base is one they sell for the Ruger MK II pistol that I adapted to fit over the slide racker that now does double duty as the dovetail mount for the sight base

I made a loading assist button and may switch to the mag followers that allow two more rounds.

carbineone, You can see the extended mag pad in my picture.

Thanks

Just that little part adds that much more capacity? Who would have thought. I was imaging something sticking out the bottom like a sore thumb. Have to look them up. Wheres a good place to get dependable spare mags?

When I saw the extension I didn't think it could hold three rounds but it does. As to where to buy extra magazines I found mine on GunMag Warehouse. They have the best price I could find and they look identical to the factory mag.

Check Joe Bob Outfitters for mags. Best price I've found. For an extra $2.95 per mag you can add a +4 follower.

Sniff, my feelings are hurt. You called my magazine extension butt ugly.

I like them because it makes the magazine easy to seat.

Did you also replace the grip screw bushings? If not, where did you find screws to fit the oddball bushings on the GSG 1911?
