Glad I bought my Lipsey's specials years ago when the prices were lower.

Good grief! Those were bids from zero, too! Perhaps the 50th Anniversary pistol I bought new back when will eventually turn out to have been a 'good investment' as well. LOL!

All it takes are two people that really want it, though two others were willing to pay north of $700 for it as well.

That's a really nice pistol and VERY well documented. You don't see them for sale very often. If you just gotta have one, that was probably the one. I already have one of these but suspect my chances of finding a reasonably priced MK4BL are long gone.

Got to admit its a great example of this model, but higher value than I'm willing to pay. (At least for now)
Anyone have any idea how many of these were made? I seem to recall reading somewhere that more of these were made than the Blued versions. Any enlightenment out there?

According to the item description:

"This was a limited edition run done for Lipsey’s with a total production of only 1002 pieces."

KMK4BL

There is a blued version in the classifieds on Rugerforum for $450: http://www.rugerforum.com/phpBB3/vie...?f=41&t=257985
This one is in excellent condition but does not have the box, which would affect the price. Usually the stainless versions are worth more than the blued versions. I have three of the stainless versions so it looks like my investment is doing good so far. Mine are excellent shooters. I put the full Volquartsen treatment in one and it is a joy to shoot. It shoots better than my Volquartsen compact.

Nothing like a big sale to bring them out of the woodwork. Might want to sell mine.

I had one, took it apart and sold the receiver to someone here. The lower got a Toyota trigger job and stipples and sits under a longer barreled target gun. What was so special about these besides gold trigger, different grip panels, and packaging.

The Lipsey lower

Another Lipsey with a BoMar sight under the dot.

Only all stainless 4" Ruger ever made (so far).

Limited run (1,000 units?)

Fun pistol to shoot.

My understanding is Ruger made the Mark II 4' bull barrel as Mk4B as well as the MK4BL (Lipsey's) but only KMK 4BL. I have owned the three different versions and see the blued 4 bull come up for sale more.
Every one I bought, I thought I was paying All they were worth but I made money on every sale, can I say that about every other gun I have owned? Heck No!

As for as value, have you noticed what stainless or for that matter any pre-lock Smiths are bringing lately. We have seen folks get tunnel vision at auctions sure.
But I would not be surprised if (one day)we are talking about the bargain that buyer got.
