Friend Vertfish said a rifle I recently acquired was an ugly dog only suitable for use in the rain. That is the Winchester 52 bubba sporter in another RFC forum. Well since he is probably right about that I decided to buy this Kimber at a local gun show because I would like to hunt in the sun also. So in Oregon that means 9 months with fido and 3 months with this nice compact rifle. Almost walked by it thinking it was a CZ Trainer but noticed the Kimber scope rings. Has been fired very little and almost no marks from use. Came with two magazines which made for a better deal but they were together in a small ziplock and when I got home and looked one is a Winchester 320 magazine! Nice rifle and I have seen very few over the years. I removed the china tasco scope it came with and mounted up a gloss Leupold 2-7 rimfire special.

My buddy rat hunting this week had his Kimber mini set up just like that one. Same 2-7 x 28 scope and all. He was saying the scope was pretty dark relative to another rifle he had along so he was going to change scopes to a 3-9 x 33 compact EFR he has.

Nice set up and shoots very well. Love the Kimber triggers on his rifles. I will be talking him out of one of his Kimber 82's one of these days very soon...

It's nice to see evidence that your insanity appears to be only temporary with regard to your 52 Hush! You have redeemed yourself. Those Mini Classics are neat little guns. Quite appropriate for the few days a month during rat season when it's not actually raining. I am hopefully we can get together on next year's trip to see Sage.

I found this one at the Small Albany gun show over the weekend. I've used these 2-7's some jackrabbit hunting rifles and they are ok but don't gather a lot of light. I will probably swap this scope out because I need to move the scope back and this one is maxed out already. This trigger is about 4.5 lbs so it is heavier than I like. 2.5 -3 lbs is where I prefer hunting and field carry rifles. I will have to study on how to adjust the trigger.

Yes I hope to get together for rat hunting again. Didn't go last year because I did the April to September Pacific Crest Trail hike and the year before our plan fell apart due to snow!! I plan to be at the Kimber gathering later this month and Sage claims to be the cook. Others have said he is a good cook so I'm in!!!

Beautiful little Mini there, HUSHKABOOM! Nice setting, also.

What scope do you intend to install on it now?

Not sure because it would be nice to stay compact but with this scope I have to stretch the old neck to far. I have not dug into the spare scope pile yet to see what else will work. Maybe a good old 3-9 Leupold with parallax set to 50 yards? I have a 3-9EFR compact also I will look at.
My wife does a lot of gardening so the flower beds and such are nice. The land in the background belongs to her Aunt so we are lucky and can hike around out there and enjoy it. I have been around that field thousands of times running or carrying a backpack with 50 pounds of gravel in it to stay in shape and get ready for hunting season, PCT hike, marathons, etc.

In my opinion those short barreled 82’s like on the mini, Blue Mtn Classic and others just really shoot well. My very first KoO was a mini and it’s easy less than moa groups is kind of what sold me on them as collectibles, which is a bunch of guns ago.
I have a Leupold 3x9 compact EFR on that rifle and I think it’s perfect.
I was just thinking about that picnic, I hear that we are around 20 so far, so it oughta be great and I’m looking forward to it.

And a new deck railing. Hope they don't fall off. 10' drop could get costly!

Nice place to live but the road in front has become so busy and noisy that it is very annoying!! Nice out back with the shop and house to block some noise.

Sweet rifle !
With a bit of patience, you can be plugging moles out there in your garden. My wife would let me do that. If you don't have any down here, come up to my place near Scio, we have plenty to go around !
So I wonder if we rubbed elbows at the Albany gun show ? Small world...
Cheers,
