Ruger Mark II Target w/Volquartsen Accurizing Kit

I recently purchased the Volquartsen Accurizing Kit from MidwayUSA on-sale and set out to install it in my newly acquired Mark II Target w/ 5.5" barrel. With the help of a couple of You Tube videos, installation wasn't difficult, but was more time consuming that I expected.

Initially, I installed the Volquartsen extended slide stop, but partially disassembled the pistol and re-installed the factory Ruger part. I found the Volquartsen extended slide stop to be far too extended - especially, with the factory grip panels (which I intend to retain). Not that the Mark II Target is snag resistant, but that extended slide stop is large enough to be labelled, "Snag Here"!

Trigger pull went from 5+ pounds to 1.8' with a bit of creep. The trigger is much better than the original and I'm glad I installed this kit.

Yes, the first time you do one of these it takes a little bit, but the second time goes much faster. The Volquartsen bolt stop lever is a little intrusive but it works well with my target grips with thumb rest.

I also found the VQ slide stop (original flat one) a bit large and took a dremel to it. Cut down a bit, still affords more thumb area and looks better on the gun. I believe the new ones are bent over at the edge.
