Well I am semi handicapped so recoil is an issue. And although I am not shooting Coyotes, but domestic dogs that are dumped out in the country I have to go with the 22 mag. Now to start shopping for a rifle.

Thanks to all of you that have taken the time to post.

Of the two choices, I'd go with the 22mag and never look back. However, given the choice, I'd actually go with an AR-style rifle in 5.56/223 and load it with 55gr V-max ammo.

Get a 6.8 SPC II in an AR platform. Devastating on hogs and better on dogs.

I have coyotes and feral hogs on my ranch. My preferred round is 243 Win. with 70 gr. Ballistic Tips. It works great on both.

Tikka makes the T1X in .22 WMR. CZ 455 is another good choice.

If you are thinking about semi auto, the CZ 512 is available in 22 WMR. Mine is very accurate out to about 150 yds. and it's stock out of the box.

Given the choices presented and conditions, I would also recommend the 22 WMR. There are a lot of good rifles available in a variety of actions, but given that the quarry run in packs, I'd consider a semi-automatic.

If it were me, I'd shoot them with whatever I had in my hands.

IMHO dogs need at least a 223 or better yet 30-30, you want them to die fast and with as little pain as possible.
