Winds were moderate but enough to make me miss at least 4 or 5 shots. I either held off a little too much and the wind died as I broke the shot, or didn't hold off enough and my pellet blew off target. Made some dumb mistakes and had a few "what the...?!?" shots when the pellets seemed to have a mind of their own.

Hot and muggy, mild winds, good turn-out of mostly regulars and one new guy.

Texas state smallbore match is next weekend so I'll post my report that following Monday.

Wednesday afternoon practice matches...

Club match, NRA steel, meters
Date: 6-13-18
Anschutz 1710
Leupold Vari-X III / Premier boosted scope @ ~32X
SK Standard Plus

Match #1, Standard Rifle
Class: AAA

Chickens - 6
Pigs - 8
Turkeys - 4
Rams - 5
TOTAL - 23

Match #2, Hunter Rifle
Class: AAA

Chickens - 10
Pigs - 8
Turkeys - 6
Rams - 4

During warm-up/practice my scope settings were really wacky, like 2 MOA down at Rams. They seemed to slowly shift back towards normal during the two matches causing me some consternation.

Oh well, all part of the game I guess.

My scores from the Texas State match this past weekend...

Club match, NRA steel, meters
Anschutz 1710
Leupold Vari-X III / Premier boosted scope @ ~32X
SK Rifle Match
Class: AAA/AAA

Saturday, 6-16-18, Standard Rifle

Match #1
Chickens - 6
Pigs - 7
Turkeys - 3
Rams - 5
TOTAL - 21

Match #2
Chickens - 8
Pigs - 3 (ouch!)
Turkeys - 5
Rams - 2 (ouch!)
TOTAL - 18

We had 15-25 MPH gusty winds blowing us around so everyone's scores were lower than normal. Lots of frustration and misery to go around.

Sunday, 6-17-18, Hunter Rifle

Match #1
Chickens - 6
Pigs - 8
Turkeys - 6
Rams - 8
TOTAL - 28

Match #2
Chickens - 5
Pigs - 8
Turkeys - 6
Rams - 8
TOTAL - 27

Much better weather on Sunday with calmer 10 MPH winds. I managed to do pretty well for my own scores and ended up with 3rd place for AAA class.

Lastly, on the way home from the match I dropped off my barreled action with the gunsmith that's putting it in a Pharr-style stock. Unfortunately that means I'll be relegated to air rifles or borrowing smallbore rifles for the next six weeks or so.

Regular club match but using a borrowed rifle since mine is off getting a new silhouette stock.

Club match, NRA steel, meters
Date: 6-23-18
Anschutz 1712/Pharr stock
Leupold BR-24 scope
SK Standard Plus

Match #1, Standard Rifle
Class: AAA

Chickens - 3
Pigs - 6
Turkeys - 5
Rams - 4
TOTAL - 18

I spent most of this match trying to get in tune with the rifle.

Match #2, Hunter Rifle
Class: AAA

Chickens - 6
Pigs - 7
Turkeys - 5
Rams - 7
TOTAL - 25

Much better. I paid more attention to holding the rifle the way it was set-up instead of trying to get it to conform to the way I held my rifle.
