Pretty much like the rest of you guys and gals I own a few Centerfire a few rimfire pistols and rifles. But the biggest kick I get is with my air rifle in my own backyard. I use iron sights 35 and 45 yards. I'm 60 + and I like shooting my big irons. But you can't beat a nice warm evening glass iced tea and dinging swinging targets plus don't cost an arm and a leg you can buy 500 rounds of the highes quality air gun pellets for under $12 and I can guarantee after two tins of pellets you will have an arm like Popeye

Isn't that the truth? A plain old pump up model like a 392 does wonders for the arm and shoulder. Sometimes too much.

Okay us gals really don't want arms like Popeye (), but I do enjoy shooting our vintage Benjamin and Sheridan pumps. I get around the strength issue on pumping by laying the gun upside down in my lap and using both arms to pump. Works well for me.

We "Wimpy" shooters shoot PCPs that are filled from carbon tanks...in between our hamburgers. :-)

But I do have a couple of springers I break out from time to time for my proper workout.

As for the ladies...

My wife has her own PCP, We have great fun setting up the demolition range in the back yard - plastic army men, paintballs, poker chips, dice, paintballs, cans full of water....not to mention action targets like spinners and swingers! Cheap, exciting, and good practice for squirrel season!

Bought a break barrel a little over a year ago and a PCP a few months ago. I also bought an electric pump for the PCP. I still shoot the break barrel almost every day and shoot about ten times as many pellets through the break barrel as the PCP. Like they saw a tin of pellets is only a few ounces of lead but a ton of fun.

Whether you have a Springer or PCP nothing is more fun or gratifying than shooting in your backyard. I feel blessed to be able to do so myself

I've owned a few break barrel magnums; a tin of pellets would really be a workout. But I don't fill my PCPs with carbon fiber tanks, I have a Hill MKIII for that. Talk about a workout, full body workout at that.

My problem with most of my air rifles is that it is kind of boring hitting the same exact spot on the target every time. Ten .177 pellets in a 1/4" circle and I'm ready to do something else. I shoot alone most of the time so I suppose some competition would make it better.

I do however take great satisfaction in reducing the pest populations with my air rifles and pistols. Red / Paper Wasps at 10M with my .177 Compact pistol with open sights is great fun. I wish the carpenter bees would cooperate more as they have taken the number one pest spot since I decimated the wasps.

Absolutely! My bench rest stays up, my 30-yard target rack stays up and all I have to is take the Fraulein of choice out the back door and shoot from under the covered patio until I either want another rifle or whatever.

My various PB's are going wanting.

2nd on the springer. I don't have the patience, or whatever, for multiple pumps.

I would avoid the cheaper Walmart variety, as they can be extremely hold sensitive and thus frustrating to someone starting out.

Since much of our backyard air gun shooting is impromptu and spur of the moment, the convenience of springers makes them our most used type, but I also keep one PCP filled up and ready to go and also keep one pumper, handy, when I'm in the mood. The convince factor, though, greatly favors a good springer.

As for targets, it all spinner and reactive targets to make things more fun. The only time we shoot paper is for sighting in.

I love 'em all and they all have their own purpose.
Something gratifying about about 50-60 year old Co2, or Pumpers... even modern Springers and now PCP's put a smile on my face. The ease and convenience is what makes it so darn fun when ever I want in my own yard..
Heck, in the winter I can shoot 10m in my cozy warm house!
