Troy T22 chassis

So I picked up a Troy chassis for $160!! Absolutely love it, but.....there was receiver movement up and down which obviously affected accuracy. Decided I need to fix that problem.
I installed it on a normal everyday carbine 18.5" 10/22 and was not happy with the receiver play and also did not like the 18.5" barrel that stuck out the front! Luckily I work part time at a shop as a beginner gunsmith and have access to some great tools and even better, a gunsmith with 30+ years of experience. We drilled and tapped the chassis, added set screws to add a little pressure upwards to the receiver and when the upper half is installed it gets rid of any receiver play! Also we cutoff 2.5"'s of barrel, gave it a 11 degree target crown and threaded it. Looks much better with the shorter barrel.

Sounds like a good fix, and I'm a fan of the shorter barrels.

Took it out this weekend and was very impressed with the accuracy after the upgrades.

I also picked up a SB Tactical folding stock adapter, want it to be able to fit in a backpack while I am riding my ATV.

where exactly did you drill and tap the chassis? I am considering doing this very project. I have a bit of up and down play in the receiver. I was thinking of going through the trigger group rear pin potentially. Do you have any suggestions?

Really one of the better chassis out there. Too bad it never really caught on. I like the looks better than the Nordic Chassis.
