What Ammo to Use

I seem to have an armadillo problem in my area and have been using my .22lr with the CCI Velocitor ammo. It has been working okay but not as good as I like. So I purchased a Ruger American Rimfire in .22WMR and have it sighted in and ready. My question is what grain bullet do you think will be best for these pesky armadillo's? I have Remington in 33gr Accutip, Winchester in 40gr hp, and Federal in 50gr. All function fine in the new rifle and are very similar at 25yds on target. Most shots are from 10 to 40yds. Since August I have eliminated 19 of them and over the past 15 years that I have lived in AL I am at the several hundred count. Any experience with these rounds and this critter?

Any mag ammo should do a number on armadillos. I think of the examples you listed, the Federal 50's are the best varmit round.

I've had better luck with 40 and 50 gr for that purpose.

Any of the ones you have will do the trick, but I would probably go with the 40 or 50 grain hollow points. At that short range, likely the Federals.
I've had good luck with the Aguila offering, as well. It is a 40 grain semi-jacketed soft point, with a flat nose. If you happen to see it on a shelf somewhere, it's worth a try.

Anyone else wish they would come out with a "Velocitor" .22 Magnum?

Basically, soup up the .22 Magnum the same way they did for the .22LR.

Then, put a decent bullet on it, which comes in about 33-37 gr, with pre-scored sides for expansion.

Yes?

My favorite and most accurate round is the hornady 30 grain vmax. Blows huge holes and DRTs animials 100 %of the time.
