1A front sight spring project

Well this was my morning project, to make a spring for the 1A sight. The material I used is a .030" thick banding material. It is thick enough to hold its form, as long as you do not keep flexing it. It is probably a little too thick, making the spring to strong. But the other material I have on hand is fairly thin. But I may try the thinner stuff to see how it will hold up.

Talk about a timely post…after seeing how it was rebuilt I thought I’d take a look at my “new” Westernfield and see why the posts weren’t tight. The spring must have broken long ago and someone replaced it with a rubber band.

Looks like I’m making a new spring!

The rubber band is a common fix.

I have a couple more with a broken springs, also missing the peep post. So I need to locate a few more to make the others complete. GPC is out of them and I do not believe the Havlins have them, but will check after the Holidays.
