I have never owned a 10/22 so here is a ques the ones that Rural King has sometimes for $219.00 or $229.00 with the plastic stocks ,what do you think of those can they be shooters? I saw one today that had a camo plastic stock and no sights or barrel band that i kinda liked for $229.00 also saw a walnut stocked one at a pawn shop with sighs no barrel band but with sights new in box for $399.00.

Here is my model, 31145,

I will say, i believe the most important factor, other than human factor, is finding what ammo the individual rifle likes. ive had my rifle throw 1 1/2 inch groups consistently with some ammo. Other ammo....

I am not a great shot. mounted on the stock rifle, is a simple burris 3x9 fullfield ll. hope this helps. my rifle was a bit over 200$ as well.
If you shoot a far amount the cost of the gun is irrelevant. aka ammo.
hope this helps.

Bought my first 10/22 this year.

They are so many upgrades available. Anything you don't like you can swap out. That is probably the biggest plus, the industry built around them.

What is a good deal for a 10/22? RK is probably a good deal. Though you will read of some walking into a Walmart in the last year and getting one for under $200. I don't see any online or in store prices advertised that low anymore. More often than not I see Out of Stock.

Rural King 10/22

If a gun is shooting right with good ammo at 25 yards should be a ragged hole... my 10/22 with good ammo is 5 shots through the same hole...

So one of these lower priced guns may be a good one to build on.

BWStickman you are right about the unavailable on line stuff seema like a lot is unavailable we have a LGS that is closing because he can't get guns or ammo and pawn shops are not getting any in because of this extra pay for the laid off people because of Covid 19 .

Sportmans Warehouse opened a month or 2 ago had them for $149, pallets of them. A month before that Sportsmans guide had them for $169 w/free shipping.

Ruger 31145

I got this from my LGS last year for 199.00 plus taxes. Put a BX trigger group and found a Nikon Monarch 4 power scope at a pawn shop for 50 dollars sent back to Nikon. Well itís my go to squirrel rifle. Light weight and accurate.

My Ruger 10/22 Target will do the same. One ragged hole at 25 yards. It likes CCI SV and CCI SSHP.

If you just plan on using one for a build then just buy the cheapest one because all that is going to be left in the end is the receiver, which is the same on all models.

What a sorry state of affairs.

Buy a gun and throw most of it away... Back in the late 50s and 60s on could buy a barrelled receiver, or just the receiver but not for 22s.

Too bad Ruger dont get in the game today but if it is not a problem I guess why would/should they??

You can still buy barreled actions. I just bought a Howa 6mm Creedmoor for $225 from Brownells. I'll add a $99 Botds stock, bed it & have a nice shooter. Howa has always been a great action, made in Japan & the same as Weatherby's cheaper line. ! MOA guarentee as most these days. I sold them 35 years ago & they've always been good IMHO.

Technician 1, Is the barrel on the 31145 a heavier contour than the standard 10-22.?

My understanding is, its a touch heavier profile than a regular 10/22. It is a tapered profile for sure. I could measure it if u wanted. Carrying it around all day in the woods. I would not want it any heavier. I like the profile.

Thanks for the info. IMO there's no question at $219 that's a good deal and its already shown it's squirrel head accurate. Good shooting.

There are some like yours at that price on Gunbroker right now. The dealer selling them had nine available last night. When I looked about an hour ago he had four left. I'm kind of hoping they're gone before I decide to get one as I picked up a nice looking walnut stocked Sporter model Tuesday the 13th that I haven't had a chance to shoot yet.
