Just wondering if anyone knows what the barrel twist is on the Anschutz 54.18MSR. I've tried running a tight patch through on a rod and measuring one full twist but each time it comes out different. It looks like a 1 in 14 to 1 in 16. I heard that it was designed for silhouette shooting and maybe for the 42 grain heavier bullets but I'd like to confirm it. It shoots pretty much any match ammo well and some of course very well but it actually likes high velocity Eley Force and I'm contemplating trying the standard velocity Eley Contact because it is the 42gr bullet as well. I sent a message to Anschutz in Germany but got no reply. Any help would be appreciated.
Yes there are. A 16in twist is very common. There are 17in twists too, mostly from custom makers. From memory, the old DDR "Suhl" rifles often had 17T (or even slower twist barrels).
Thanks guys. I appreciate the reply's. Just ordered a brick of 42 grain Eley Contact. If it runs well like the Eley Force then I'll pick up a case of it. It should be good for Rimfire PRS this summer.
