Kind of a random question, but did Anschutz ever build 1717s with the side safety and "match" style cocking piece? There was a time when the bolt-mounted flag-style safeties and the trigger-mounted sliding safeties were produced simultaneously, but my sense is this was after the 1717 was discontinued.
Found the answer to my own question. I found a post by Smooth describing his and his wife's 1717s and indicating his 1717 has the side trigger. Even had a nice picture. Must have been right at the transition period, as the stock was relieved for the older flag-style safety.
I've got one also, perhaps from a little later as the stock is not relieved for the wing safety. Mine's a silhouette version though (cousin to a 1712) with the 5109 trigger and shorter barrel.
They did indead. I believe I one owned the only side safety meister grade that made it to the US. I do know someone who still has a 1717d sporter with the right side safety. My gun was a HB version and the stock was relieved for both safety styles.
My 1717 DKL has the wing safety and the diamond in pistol grip, with a two stage trigger that does not have the adjustable blade.
