‘68 1413.

1. I need help getting the trigger guard off of the stock.

2. The aluminum base plate next to the stock. All three screws are removed. The only left are two roughly 1/16” holes off-set, on one ash side. The plate is still stuck tight.

I can send email pictures but have not been able to pictures on this sight. Your “experienced” help would be much appreciated.

Mike,

A 1413 trigger guard (and any xx13 really) should only be held on by the bedding bolt at the front. Once that's out, wiggle the triggerguard down at the front, and it should pop out.

By "aluminium base plate next to the stock" do you mean the base for the LOP adjustable butt? That's harder to remove as there are up to three layers: the buttplate +base; the LOP carrier; the base. The buttplare is held on by a thumbscrew in the plate. The convex base for the buttplate attaches to the LOP with two allen headed bolts (allowing cant and offset adjustment). On older rifles the base attaches to the LOP adjuster with three screws (from memory) and doesn't gave sideways adjustment. The base is fixed onto the stock with two wood screws; you have to wind out the LOP adjuster to get T these.

Bear in mind that later butt parts will retro fit to a '68 1413, so photos, or a more exact description wouldn't hurt!
