ruger 77-17wsm missfires

could anyone tell me why my 77 missfirs so much? if i get a missfire i just put bolt up and down and fire agian and it shoots.. whats wrong? using hornady ammo

One issue with the 17 WSM is ignition. It requires a much harder firing pin strike for ignition. This is one big reason one cannot willynilly convert another rimfire platform to .17 WSM; that and FP location. Many of the early rifles lacked the FP energy and were subsequently improved. I think Iíve read that the early Rugers had the problem. If yours is an early rifle, Ruger should make it good. If not, they still would probably make it right, but I think stronger after-market springs are also available.
