At what distance do your groups start to go haywire. Or does it tumble immediately out of the barrel?

My understanding is, you need a 1 in 9 twist for the heavier ammo. This is just what I've read elsewhere.

You will need a 1:9 twist to stabilized these... most 22's are 1:16

I've played with that stuff till I'm blue in the face - need a fast twist 1/9 minimum for it to stabilize. To bad cause it'd be great through a suppressor.

Have a look here for a good review.

Also, it's NASTY stuff. Fouls the barrel out rapidly with tons of unburnt powder.

I shot some the other day while testing ammo in my 10/22. At 50 yards in a 20" 1:16 twist Green Mountain barrel they were about 3" low and all over the place. Hopefully my left hand 452 will come in tomorrow or Fri and I'll try them in there, but I don't expect anything different.

9 twist barrel

I have a 10/22 with a 1:9 Green Mtn barrel that shoots the stuff very well. Low noise level, accurate, but as noted by Casca, dirty! I tried it in a Savage youth model bolt gun and bullets were tumbling at 30 yards.

Nice thing about the 1:9 barrel is it also shoots 40 gr bullets pretty well.

I was surprised how well SSS shot in my Model 1. It's one of two guns I own that actually don't throw keyholes all over the place with the stuff. It actually grouped fairly well at 25 yards with a dinged-up front sight.
