Hi all, new this this part of the forum. Love this 41, shoots like a dream. Still drives tacks. Shoots WAY better than my old eyes these days. This one is from 1959

I'm sure those of you who came of age in the 50s and 60s before the 1968 GCA remember a wonderful time for gun ownership in the U.S. I was 8 in 1980 and remember guns at Sears and Wards like the S&W 41 being cleared out never to be seen again.

Very nice Model 41.

I have an older one, but not that old. Years ago I bought a second factory D&T barrel from Gil Hebard so I didn’t have to D&T the original barrel. The pistol shoots better than I do.

oh man!!! I wish I wouldn't have read this. I thought I just had a collection of really inaccurate Hi-Standards and Model 41s.

They are lots of fun for sure. This one runs like a sewing machine. It seems to like CCI SV the best, but that's in short supply around here.

Yesterday I shot it with some Winchester subsonic and all I did was oil the first round in the mag (I've pretty much always done this). Anyway, that ammo is right in line with CCI SV for velocity (within 30fps), just not quite as accurate for me.

I’ve got one from 1990 iirc. Bought it used several years ago. I had nothing but problems at first. Sent it to S&W two times, and they never seemed to correct it. It was in such good shape/condition when I bought it, I would have sworn it was never fired. Anyway, after sending it in, and dealing with the malfunctioning for several hundred (600?) more rounds, it started to “work”. I believe that it was so “new” when I bought it, it just needed breaking in. It has been flawless for a few years now. I was very disappointed at first. Thought about getting rid of it all the time. Now, I can’t imagine not having it. Love it! It prefers CCI Std Velocity.
