Buckmark Nickel Target Grips

Log in to see fewer ads
I have a nickel target model that I fell instantly in love with after a dear friend sold it to me for an incredible price. The grips on it are the original walnut, but the stain is very dark. I’d like to replace them with somethingLike rosewood, preferably with finger grooves. Does anyone know What frame style the Nickel target is? Is it a UFX? What other Buck Mark model grips would be compatible?

DrGunner

Here she is, my fave .22 pistol-

MOST LIKELY A UFX/STANDARD FRAME...

i don't believe that they offered the nickel-plated buckmarks in any other style frames besides the STANDARD/UFX frames.

here's a couple pics of a what originally started out as a BUCKMARK MICRO NICKEL:

hope this helps out and congrats on scoring a "hard-to-find" version...

That is a Standard grip frame, maybe check out Altamont. I bought a nice set of rosewood panels for my Mk III 22-45 from them.

I bought these rosewood panels for my Standard several years ago direct from Browning, don't know what or if they are offering these days.

Thanks, Bob. I think the actual designation is ďUFXĒ, aka Standard.
Unfortunately, Altamont is out of stock on almost everything. Several of their designs are available on eBay, but they are a straight mark up from private sellers and Iím not gonna pay some Jackwagon an extra $20. I found some nice rosewood ones that Iím considering. Looks like Iíll probably have to wait until Altamont refills their stock.

I have the rubber like finger groove grips on my Buckmark. Not sure if they're made by Hogue or someone else. While not nearly as nice as the rosewood grips they feel great shooting the pistol.

I have those on my 7.25 Contour URX. Unfortunately, itís a completely different grip frame design. Besides that, I really want a traditional wood look on this one- itís a rare classic.

Appreciate the input, though-

Nah, the guy is way too kind and true a friend to do anything of the kind. Heís the kind of person thatís an honor to count amongst oneís acquaintances- to have him as a close friend is a gift in life. And yes, his taste is impeccable!

Yeah mine is a URX. Wasn’t sure if they had ones that fit the UFX. I don't blame you one bit for wanting to stick with the traditional wood. That's a beautiful pistol, a lot nicer looking than my URX. There are a ton of people who make custom wood grips for just about any gun there is that sell on eBay. Some of them are really nice. Just make sure you check their feedback if you see something you like.

It could be that someone stained them with a very dark color. Couldnít you just sand them down enough to lighten the color and then re-stain with a light colored stain and finish with TruOil? Actually, you could not even re-stain. Just finish with the TruOil after sanding.
