Here's a scope that I have for my S&W M&P15 Sport II which is now discontinued, but it's replacement is pictured below. It has a non-cluttered BDC reticle.

I just put a Truglo Tru-Brite 1-6x24 Scope ($139) on a recent 7.62x39 AR build and very pleased with it. A little heavy but illuminated reticle is sharp and optics are clear.

I’d like to thank everyone for their help and input.

The thread derail was actually an amusing distraction; I rarely get upset over thread drift- the topics are often poignant and interesting- this was no exception.

Having gone back through all of my choices and thinking back on my experience of scoping dozens of rifles over the last 45 years, it always comes back to

“You get what you pay for.”

I certainly do not want to waste $150-$200 on something I’m unhappy with, especially when I can spend a little more and have a very good chance of getting something that I will really like. In this case, I’ve decided that I’m going to buy a
Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6x 24. I have two AR15’s that it would work nicely on, one of which also has an unmagnified Ultradot-6 as its primary optic.

Currently Optics Planet has the Strike Eagle on sale for $299.

Is that about the best price I can expect on a new one, or is it worth waiting around for a better sale price to show up?

Regards,

DrGunner

do you have a mount? PSA has it with a vortex mount and with code EAGLE its $338.50 plus shipping?

or you can take a chance and become a member of Botach and get it for $239.99 personally I have never had a problem with Botach but others have. oh and sometimes shipping can be slow.

Look at this one. I had its predecessor that had red/green illumination. Great scope. Gave it to a buddy when I built his .300 BO. Couldn't find another until just recently came across this one. I also bought a Tru-Glo in the same configuration from Sportsmans Guide. It has worked well for me. https://www.joeboboutfitters.com/Sun...n-ma1624wm.htm

These are both great deals. You very rarely if ever see the Strike Eagle go on sale. The 1-6× has been $299 pretty much ever since it was released and the 1-8× $399.

So if you can get a $100 mount for an extra $38 that's a pretty good deal, providing you need one.

One thing I have noticed about the Strike Eagle is that the newer ones look a little bit different than the older ones. Hopefully it's only cosmetic and nothing was changed internally.
