I meant HMR in the title. I can't seem to edit the title to fix this without starting over.

I've owned a couple of 17HMRs in the past but until yesterday I didn't have one anymore.

Thanks to a fine fellow here, I came into a Dakota Action/Barrel/Inletted Stock this past fall. I sent it to Canyon Creek. It returned to me yesterday. I had never even seen a Dakota Model 10 before but knew they were terrific rifles.

This is by far my most elaborate rifle I've ever owned. Several of my prized custom recurve bows helped fund it.

I fired two rounds last night (no sights yet). Love the crisp, light trigger. It handles and points like a dream.

I like it. It will be my nice weather, after leaf fall squirrel getter.

39.75" overall length. Barrel is just under 23". Rifle weights 6.5 pounds with integral mounts but without a scope. I'm going to put one of the older Leupold 3-9 AO or 4-12 AO scopes on it. I want to maintain the low weight and profile.

could be the sexiest rimfire Iíve ever seen!!! Just wicked and rakish in the extreme. Another Canyon Creek masterpiece...Leroy is taking his rightful place in the custom rifle world.

Stunning!

I'd love to see leupold release a blued scope with an ao that gets rimfire distant settings. External size of the 2.5-8 or vxr 2-7, with proper HD glass and a 3x erector.

Lots of premium rifles running around with giant ????? Question marks for parity. The European lines are larger and clunky, the other alpha glass comes with tactical wrappers.

Not sure what a canyon creek model 10 goes for, but it along with their anschutz rifles would pair nicely with a refined aesthetic scope with equal quality glass.

Absolutely beautiful rifle!

WOW!!!, he said! That is not only beautiful, but unique. As TBR said, rakish. That may be one of the best ever coming from LeRoy and Connie -- and that's saying something. If that is not one of those posted on their website, I'll be surprised. Congratulations!

Doug

If you look closely and with some imagination, at the case colored action picture, it looks like a squirrel skull looking towards the trigger guard.

I’m sure the fellow who did that work intended that.😇

Thanks for the appreciation of this rifle. This was one of Kent’s projects that he didn’t have time for. He provided helpful guidance all along the way. He provided the action, barrel, and inletted blank.

I provide nothing except the proceeds from some guns and bows I sold off to fund this.🤓

When you get ready to mount the scope make sure you will not have to crawl the stock to get a full view of the eye box. In my case I found most Leupolds gave me trouble once I raised the power above 6. What is needed in my Dakota is an extended front ring which Dakota would not make for me. I also spoke with Talley and again the answer was no.
Your rifle is gorgeous and I especially like the but plate treatment. Hopefully you will enjoy yours as much as I like mine.
