Rain from a few weeks ago kept the range flooded for the past two weeks, so we didn't get to shoot our monthly air rifle match last weekend. This is the Wednesday evening smallbore practice for our monthly match on Saturday.

NRA steel, meters
Anschutz 1710
Leupold Vari-X III / Premier boosted scope @ ~30X
SK Rifle Match
Date: 7-8-20
Class: AAA/AAA

Round #1
Chickens - 8
Pigs - 9
Turkeys - 6
Rams - 9
TOTAL - 32

Not a bad start, especially seeing as I haven't shot in a couple of weeks!

Round #2
Chickens - 8
Pigs - 9
Turkeys - 5
Rams - 8
TOTAL - 30

In both matches the one Pig I missed was a shot in the hole between the legs. I swear that that has to be my personal curse. I did the same thing at the club match two weeks ago.

EDIT: just checked my records and this aggregate score (62) beats my previous PR of 61 from back in early March!

Should be hot and steamy for the club match this Saturday with the heat index around 107 or so. :(

Our monthly club match...

NRA steel, meters
Anschutz 1710
Leupold Vari-X III / Premier boosted scope @ ~30X
SK Rifle Match
Date: 7-11-20
Class: AAA/AAA

Round #1
Chickens - 8
Pigs - 9
Turkeys - 5
Rams - 2 (ouch!)
TOTAL - 24

Had a good score going until I got to Rams, then just couldn't connect.

Round #2
Chickens - 4
Pigs - 5
Turkeys - 9
Rams - 8
TOTAL - 26

Started on Rams and felt like I got my groove back, gave it away on Chickens and Pigs (two shots in the hole between the legs, of course). Hit 9 Turkeys in a row and barely missed the last one. Had I hit it I would have earned my first smallbore Grand Slam. :banghead3

Had some good runs and some complete meltdowns today. Still, had a good group of folks who put up with the heat to come out and shoot so it was a good day.

Wednesday air rifle practice. It was hot and muggy, and switchy winds kept things spicy, especially for Target rifle.

Match #1, NRA Air Rifle resettable, yards
Date: 7-15-20

Round #1, Target Rifle:
Class: AAA
Anschutz Super Air 2002
Sightron @ 24X
JSB Diablo Exact (7.33) pellets

Chickens - 6
Pigs - 7
Turkeys - 6
Rams - 6
TOTAL - 25

Had to constantly keep an eye on the wind flags for the direction changes.

Round #2, Sporter Rifle:
Class: Master
Air Arms TX200
Leupold M8 24X
JSB Heavy (10.34) pellets

Chickens - 9
Pigs - 8
Turkeys - 8
Rams - 8
TOTAL - 33

Woot! Once again this proves something about this rifle just works for me.

Round #3, Open Rifle:
Class: Master
Air Arms HFT-500
Weaver T-24
Air Arms Diablo Heavy (10.34) pellets

Chickens - 10
Pigs - 8
Turkeys - 7
Rams - 5
TOTAL - 30

Ended on Rams and the wind wouldn't let up for shots that were less than ideal. Still happy to get two scores in the 30's though.

Wednesday air rifle practice. Hot and muggy, winds were different conditions for each match so listed after each score.

Match #1, NRA Air Rifle resettable, yards
Date: 7-22-20

Round #1, Target Rifle:
Class: AAA
Anschutz Super Air 2002
Sightron @ 24X
JSB Diablo Exact (7.33) pellets

Chickens - 8
Pigs - 10
Turkeys - 8
Rams - 7
TOTAL - 33 (my second Master score!)

Winds were almost a constant 5 MPH right to left the whole match. Super happy with this score!

Round #2, Sporter Rifle:
Class: Master
Air Arms TX200
Leupold M8 24X
JSB Heavy (10.34) pellets

Chickens - 9
Pigs - 9
Turkeys - 6
Rams - 8
TOTAL - 32

Winds laid down and just fluttered here and there.

Round #3, Open Rifle:
Class: Master
Air Arms HFT-500
Weaver T-24
Air Arms Diablo Heavy (10.34) pellets

Chickens - 9
Pigs - 8
Turkeys - 5
Rams - 7
TOTAL - 29

Winds picked up to a solid 10-15 MPH right off the bat. I started this round on Turkeys and struggled to get every hit. Not happy about giving up two Pigs, one through the hole in the leg of course! Overall a very good practice.

Wednesday air rifle practice. Not so hot but very muggy with almost no wind (which didn't help with the mugginess).

Match #1, NRA Air Rifle resettable, yards
Date: 7-29-20

Round #1, Target Rifle:
Class: AAA
Anschutz Super Air 2002
Sightron @ 24X
JSB Diablo Exact (7.33) pellets

Chickens - 7
Pigs - 9
Turkeys - 7
Rams - 6
TOTAL - 29

Round #2, Sporter Rifle:
Class: Master
Air Arms TX200
Leupold M8 24X
JSB Heavy (10.34) pellets

Chickens - 9
Pigs - 8
Turkeys - 9
Rams - 8
TOTAL - 34

Woot! Just one point behind my PR of 35.

Round #3, Open Rifle:
Class: Master
Air Arms HFT-500
Weaver T-24
Air Arms Diablo Heavy (10.34) pellets

Chickens - 8
Pigs - 10
Turkeys - 9
Rams - 6
TOTAL - 33

I lost all four Rams because of shots going low just under the belly. By the end of the second bank I had come up a full MOA above my normal scope setting. Still happy with the 33 though.

The club air rifle match is Sunday so I'll have official match scores to post then.
