Exceptional find. Makes me want to go to a gun show. I just bought a Walther P22 that I wouldn't hesitate to trade in on something new.

I've owned a number of HSs and they all shoot fantastic. I couldn't keep yours in the safe, it would have to see the range.

Good Luck and Good Shooting.

Quite a good looking pistol, and a great find. I'd love to have it myself.

Anything I'd buy would be to shoot. A find like this might get babied a bit more than a run of the mill gun, but probably not much really.

The only reason I would ever own any "safe queen" is if it was so rare there was a guaranteed return to keeping it pristine and locked away. And even then I'd look at it more as an investment and less as a firearm.

Bill Jenkins writes about these in his book "U.S. Military Match and Marksmanship Automatic Pistols". The "USMC Property" pistols are discussed on Pages 129 & 130.

The condition it is in and with all the accruements it has and how bad you want it. The value could be quite a bit.

For 500 silver dollars at the present price of silver per ounce, you better have about 20+ glocks to sell.

Hello Kevin,

I collected coins for a long time but had Heritage sell it all at various auctions in 2008 and 2009. Some silver dollars are pretty much bullion value but some are pretty pricy. My most valuable coin was a 4 dollar gold piece. My most valuable silver dollar was a couple of thousand dollars.

Talking about valuation in other that current dollar values seems pretty silly and like guns the better condition the higher price especially for the more collectable coins.

In this case I have started counting the USMC shipments and although I have not checked my work, it appears that the first shipment contained about 200 9119 pistols. I believe there were 11 shipments of various size.

John

I consulted with Bill on the High Standard section of his book. There are a few errors as the data I provided did not fit his narrative. He also spelled my name wrong in the book.

Thanks for all the information guys I knew I could count on you. And yes it will get its time at the range. When I was a kid me my brother and my Dad would go to the Gun club almost every Sunday but now it seems I don’t get to go as often as I would like.
