Is this a good idea or a bad idea? I have also heard that people use nail polish . I do want to be able to remove the base if need be.What do those who know say ?? Thanks.

nail polish or blue loctite either one works. Be sure and remove the bolt first, and degrease the holes and screws before using either one.

I have used nail polish when I ran out of loctite. If you don't use anything the recoil jolting will loosen the screw that hold the base on.

With either one you will be able to loosen the screws with a screwdriver. No need to really as you can still use the iron sights with the scope base installed.
