Smile WZ 78 accuracy

After a good app. 1000 round shoot in with careful cleaning every couple hundred rounds, and installing a Vortex 8x32 crossfire scope my son and me tried the wz out today against his 64 Savage Anschutz equiped with a 8x 32 Mueller scope, both guns were fired off a Caldwell rock rest. He was shooting both guns with Wolf M,T and Eley red box and both were shooting around 1/2 in. 5 shot groups at 50 yards. The amazing part was the WZ was shooting every bit as good as the Anschutz.
Not saying the WZ is as accurate as an Anschutz but this was just our informal observation.

Yea the rough edges will smooth out after a couple bricks of ammo , however they do like good ammo.
Hard to go wrong with a WZ78 at the prices they are selling for.

Trouble with flyers

have you guys experienced this, I will have a good 3 or 4 shot group then an unexplained flyer ruining the 5 shot group. I have weighed and checked for rim thickness also using match ammo. I don't know if the is a common problem with the WZ or will it fix it's self. Have about 200 rounds thru it.

Mine likes to shoot 5 or 10 shots to get warmed up, after that it does pretty good.

all 5-shot groups:

The one real flyer in there HAD to be the ammo! This batch of Wolves seems to pack one odd round in every box.

Generally speaking, I'm pretty impressed with the Wz-78...it's working out to be a pretty interesting rifle!

As was said earlier they like good ammo, but for a gun that was retailed for around $250 they are amazing. I really cannot think of anything else at that price point that comes close in build quality or accuracy.

Hate to tell you Ron but the Swede is correct (as usual) the older Mossberg rifles are very good shooters almost to a gun, I've owned a couple and enough other rifles to know the difference.

Glad that you found humor in my post, Ron - a laugh is always a good way to start a day. That said, my post wasn't really intended to be funny. I have many rimfire rifles - some of which are generally accepted as being near the top tier of production guns - and NONE of them are, conditions and optics being equal - substantially and consistently superior in accuracy to my two Mossberg 44US models. None. The kicker? My Mossbergs like Federal 510 as well as the more expensive stuff. Sure, my #3S and #4 BRNOs are a little molre accurate, as are the Kimber and the H&R, but the WZ78? Not even close.

Now, back to funny. A duck walked into a bar....

Your right ,im wrong!!

Can you buy 44 US mossbergs for $250, also have you had a lot of experience with WX78,s . Enough to know they are not even close in accuracy, I have not had but as the thread said, I was simple making an observation with my son shooting both wz78 and Anschutz 64, and it seemed to me that the WZ was a very accurate rifle.
Sorry if I offended anyone.

I bought both of mine for less than $250.00 USD each, a couple of years ago. Don't know what they go for right now. I'm basing my opinion on about 1000 rounds thru each Mossy and 500 thru the Wifama.

......and asks the bartender for corn. The bartender says "We have no corn, get out of here." So the duck leaves. The next day he comes back and asks for corn again, and the bartender says "I told you, we don't have any corn! Get out!" So the duck leaves. The next day he goes in again and asks for corn, and the bartender says, "For the last time, we don't have corn! If you ever come back, I'm going to nail those webbed feet of yours to the floor!" So the duck leaves. The next day the duck comes and asks, "Do you have any nails?" The bartender says, "No, of course not. Why would a bar have nails?" The duck then says, "Good. Can I have some corn?

Most assured, I paid $200 OTD from my LGS for this one which will shoot with 95% of the new rifle one sees with iron sights, not trying to diss you but merely point out that the WZ78 is a good shooting inexpensive rifle but not the only one.

Had to replace the trigger guard and buy a aperture for the rear sight but she is a shooter.

nice mossy's would love to have a good 44US, back to the WZ I have yet to get 500 rounds thru it so I can't say it's broken in but it does show promise. Will post some 20 yrd targets, all I have had a chance to shoot with it.

Nice mossberg maybe there is room in my safe for just one more rimfire. I honestly can say I don,t have much experience with Mossberg. Years ago they did not get the respect they do now {im an old timer} but now I am interested in trying one. lol
btw. I liked the Duck joke.
