Also looking for advice on the sling swivels. The guy I'm buying from said to be careful they can scrape up the stock if you don't have a sling installed. I guess that means I'll be buying one. Or just taking the mounts off. Is there a special process to do it?

I dont generally like slings, most of mine have the swivels removed. My hunting rifles were mostly sans slings though I carried a 'universal slip on' in my day-kit just in case.
Seems like I was too often getting the sling caught in something and if I had so much to carry that I actually 'needed' to sling it I was carrying too much.

Same here. I rarely use them. If the mounts are going to have a chance of scratching up the wood I'll probably just take them off and set them aside.

it's a firearm, no matter how careful you are, if you actually use it, eventually it's going to get marks on it..don't worry about the swivels scratching anything

but that said, mine had a simple black utility strap on it. I recently stole it for another project, but it will get another sling soon.. since I actually like, and use slings all the time

That's true. I'm the same way with my cars. I try my hardest to keep them perfect but once there's a little ding or scrape on them I'm not so worried.

On a full stock I think a braided leather looks good or a Montana sling.

So I got my gun. One of the scope mount holes has wonky threads. I have to send back the receiver and they're going to swap it out so in the meantime I get to sit here thinking about scopes.

It would probably feel wrong to put a 3x prism on there even though it could be good for plinking. (Why do they only put those circular reticles on the 1x ones though, not the 3x? I don't need those BDC reticles!)
