What is the best way to remove paint from a barrel without damaging the bluing under the paint? Thanks, Stoney

I used acetone to remove paint from the barrel and reciever on one I picked up cheap. The acetone took the spraypaint off but did not affect the factory black coating on the reciever or the blueing on the barrel.
