I've been wanting a "sleeper" carbine..
So far .. I had just about everything I needed.
Except the receiver and metal barrel band.
Ordered up a Brownells receiver and a TI.. black barrel band.
Have a CPC'd carbine barrel..and CPC'd metal trigger.
JWH bolt..
Walnut stock.
This should make a decent shooter.
Not everything goes as planned ..
I didn't like the way this action fit in the Walnut stock.. so after trying several other stocks I had..
This stock fit like a glove.
The metal Trigger group didn't work out either.
Was dragging on the jWT bolt.
Swapped out the the unit with a BX.. she's slicker than a greased pig
Barrel band.. the metal one I had didn't seem to sit like I wanted it to.. so, yep put a polymer band on.. fits perfect.
The CPC'd carbine barrel was a really snug fit.
Had to sand the hole a bits. Just smooth it a bits.
Heat on the receiver.. chilling the barrel.. some gun grease. A few taps later.. she finally went home.
Shooting the gravel pile.. she's hitting where I aim.
Sometimes the best of plans have to change.
But the way she went together, I'm happy.
Runs like a top.
I like the JWH charge handle.
Hey buckweet! Nice rifle buddy. In no way does that bolt drive you out of SuperStock. Many here have used after market bolts.
As for it being a sleeper....well....I guess it is a 10 ft sleeper. Looks Ruger until you get closer than 10 ft but is definitely a SuperStock!:bthumb:
Thanks Vincent š
It's funny ?
Here I have several heavy barrel builds...and ?? Although I bought my first 10/22 almost 44 years ago..
(Still have it)..I posted it on the LVT post.
Anyhow I wanted to go back to my roots with this build.
Just a simple iron sighted carbine that I carried in my youth.
But.. I also wanted to hot rod it a bits.
I'm really seriously enjoying this super stock š
