finally getting the hang of my Shopkeeper

hey folks... finally, after more than two bricks of various rimfire, i think i' might finally be getting the hang of shooting my little Shopkeeper... interesting how one can learn different skills and styles of shooting... so far learning how to shoot my Shopkeeper has been one of the most rewarding pastimes in all the years i've been plinking...

the transitions from prone rifle to double-action revolver to semi-automatic pistol weren't as hard for me as getting into single-action shooting - especially with a short-barrel and iron sights...

i was initially dismayed and frustrated due to the inability to hit the paper where i wanted... i thought for sure that there were multiple problems with my Shopkeeper: timing, chambering, cylinder gap, sights... the revolver was shooting to the left and elevation was all over the place... i blamed the gun...

but i was wrong... it was all me...

today i went to the range, set up a couple targets with 4" bulls at 5 yards, and took a deep breath... i held the sights just under the bulls, focused on my breathing and concentrated on my trigger pull, making sure to keep both eyes open and slowly pulling straight back with the crook of my index finger...

and using the cheapest rimfire i had on hand (Aguila Super Extra LRN), i found that my Shopkeeper shoots as true as i can make it!

i really like the challenge of learning how to shoot this little revolver - it has been worth every penny to me

Good shooting Willie!

I love my Shop Keeper but yeah, that grooved top strap rear sight is a pickle to get lined up...some days it feels like I could do just as good shooting a matchlock arquebus

Gotta love it!!!! For me it was learning to shoot my GP 100 accurately after shooting my Single Six for ten years! Interestingly I shoot tighter groups DA than I do SA at 15 yards...

Nice shootin', Linux Author.

I fired a few cylinders full from my Shopkeeper yesterday. I was actually hitting a 1.5" target at 7 yards yesterday for the first two cylinders full. Then I got all cocky and it went downhill quickly after that.

But it sure was fun.
