Will I need a scope with parallax adjustment for the Tikka T1X 17 HMR , I was thinking of going with a Leupold 3x9 X 30 firedot?

It never hurts to have a scope with either SF or AO, especially on a rimfire.

I have a 3-9 x 40 AO scope with BBC for 22WMR I plan on using for my 17HMR. I expect I'll be shooting double the distance (200 on the 100 setting) or there about

You need more magnification unless you plan on shooting 50 yards and less most of the time in that case you might as well stay with the 22 long rifle. Pretty hard to see the bullet holes at 100 yards with a 3-9 scope.

Scope

We take two CZ 452 HMRs prairie dogging. Mine has a Mueller APV 4.5-14, the wife's has a Bushnell 5-15. Both have AO and are all we need for the cartridge. Had one BSA scope. I gave it away and will never have another. Perhaps they're better now than they used to be.

I'm a Leupold scope aficionado for the most part but they don't make a scope specifically for the 17hmr, I bought a Bushnell for my Sako quad and am very satisfied with it, its a very good inexpensive scope. Clear and the 17hmr knob is right on with the trajectory of the bullet.

Smile

I've had really good results with Mueller scopes. I run an 8-32 x 44 on my Anschutz 1517 D and a 10-40 x 50 (not a Mueller) on my Marlin 917V, both have side parallax adjustments. Turn the power down for hunting, max it out for punching paper. Both scopes look big on the rifles but if I can't see it, I can't hit it. I'm old and the eye sight is not what it used to be. LOL

Trajectory knob would be off on this one for the 17hmr, it's for the 17 wsm.

I'd like to find the factory manual as there seems to be some conflict between the sales description and reviews on Amazon

And Midway describes this scope, Bushnell #: 633124, as follows
The Bushnell Rimfire Optics 6-18x 40mm rifle scope will stretch the limits of your rimfire rifle. It features 3 interchangeable ballistic turrets (1/4 MOA, .22 LR, and 17 HRM) which allows the operator to customize the scope to fit their needs.

It wouldn't be the first time Amazon has their pies muddled up with incorrect descriptions

Here is one Amazon has listed correctly for 1/4 MOA, 22LR and 17HMR, Bushnell #633941 for $108
Midway sells it for $124 but it's just 3-9x

Best bang for your buck in a 17HMR BDC scope would appear to be Bushnell #633124 3-18 x 40 from Amazon for $98.13, which Midway sells for $135

The best magnification in a 17HMR BDC scope might be the Bushnell #633184, which Amazon and Midway both sell for $145

I just picked up a Vortex Diamondback HP 3-12 for my new CZ 457 17HMR. I had one with a regular duplex on my old 455 that I really liked but sold it with the rifle. This one has the hash marks for longer distances. Sportsman's Warehouse was closing them out for $199. 17's shoot so flat for their practical range limitation that the extra marks are not really necessary, but on this scope the first one should useful being right on at 150 yds, second matches up about 225 yds - really stretching a 17HMR out in my experience, third about 275. Would take a very calm day for me to hit anything out that far.

I have a Bushnell Elite 4-16X with AO on my 17Mach2. It's a great set up for squirrel woods hunting. I can dial in a 100+ yard shot or dial back for a 25 yard. If you don't mind making adjustments on the fly (I don't mind) then it works really well.
