Marlin 60 bolt release question

As it is my usual state of being, I am a bit confused by the term Old Style Model 60 and New Style Model 60 bolt release.

Herein lies the confusion. Do the terms "old" and "new" refer to the iteration of the rifle, ie: New Model 60 vs Old Model 60, or does it refer a difference between an Old Model style of bolt release vs a New Model style of bolt release? (in other words, two different bolt release designs)

I have looked at a lot of photos which have various captions identifying the part as a Model 60 bolt release and have been unable identify any differences.

So to distill the question to it's essence, is the bolt release the same for any and all Model 60s and if not how does one identify what specific bolt release one needs?
