Just called them and Jacob said no. I need a 457 striker and they have been telling me since spring that should be available soon. Definition of soon ? Come on man - pitiful.
They’ve had the strikers in the warehouse for several weeks now, but they won’t release them. I had been waiting for a striker for a while and they eventually just sent me one and covered it under warranty.
If the customer service reps are able to cover it under warranty, they certainly will. As for selling the strikers by itself, they need a part number and price established by someone else to be able. That’s why you don’t see it available on the site. They’re very nice people in customer service, but they have guidelines they must follow.
They were $140 the other day. Inflation, I guess. They should be much cheaper considering how crappy the early production bolts were sent out.
I just looked again and today they've added a lot more parts for sale, including strikers (firing pins).
Why would anyone need a bolt? I mean beyond a defect that would be covered under warranty. The 457 is a new product, they should all be covered. This would seem like a very low priority for online sales.
Yes, you’re right. Many early bolts had nasty burrs and striations on them that were easily sanded and polished off. The strikers were another issue. Some of them were deformed at the impact end. If this was brought to their attention, they would have been replaced under warranty. Many people would like to do a reshaping of the striker (firing pin ) but didn’t want to mess with it until a part was available in case it didn’t go as planned.
It’s just that this is the first appearance of parts available for a rifle that has been for sale for close to a year now.
