The certificate came today. Your effort to make this a first class experience is greatly appreciated, especially since you don't have to go to all this trouble. And that's on top of the hassle of running the match.

My hat is off to you.

Thanks Hank...

Thanks Hank. That is about as well as I can do. I am not sure the sights are the weak link. I moderate the offhand air rifle match and have noted there is no real difference between the scores submitted between iron sight and scopes. But I do think there may be an advantage to shooting a semi-auto rifle in that you get in a good position and if you happen to be pretty steady, you can get off a bunch of shots. Using a bolt action rifle, I find it comes off of my shoulder to work the action and I need get reset for every shot. Maybe I notice that more as I am not in the best of shape, not as strong as I once was etc. The rifle not staying steady on target when I go to shoot is my biggest problem, and I have that whether shooting open sights, peep sights or scope. I guess with scope shooting off of a bench giving better results than target peep sights, and target peep sights giving better results than open sights, having a scope should give some advantage. But the difference as you very well know is fractions of an inch at 50 yards. When some of my shots are in the 6 and 7 ring, I can't blame the sights, it's all me. But I do enjoy working at it. Best wishes for the coming year and many of them. David

A nice day for this part of the country, low 30's, no wind, overcast skies. Though the rubber mat that I stand on was covered in 6" of snow. Made it a little slippery. Not an excuse but it didn't help. I simply had an off day.

Back to reality. The last 2 mos. I have gotten 220+ scores. I strive to at least get all shots in the black. Had 4 in the pink. Just wasn't my day.

Don't feel bad, I was in the same boat with last weekend's targets.

I think of it as setting a lower bar so you can make improvements in 2017!

Not enough time to shoot regularly. I think my centerfire stuff is interfering with my rimfire stuff. Oh well....good problem to have.

Good score baddog. Your targets are somewhat like mine.

I describe my shooting as being like lightning at night... flashes of brilliance followed by long periods of darkness.

Just ordered 250 targets. Last time, first I bought 24 , then 100. They did not last a year. I share with Amymarie2688.

Thanks to Bob for the match. I love it!

My sporter rifle scores are going up.

David

38 degrees with a 15 mph wind. The weather was sunny but too cold for my liking and my score reflects it.

@Bob: consider post 3037 a 25 yard entry please.

Had a lot going on this month so I did not get a chance to shoot an Irons set.
I am cognizant of a lesson learned these past few months: Leading up to the big October match I shot more and my scores improved. Then during October I shot A LOT and my scores improved some more. Then in November I kept shooting and after 3 months of trying to do it all right, I was actually approaching some of my old PR scores. What a great feeling that was !!
Then came December where I didn't get to shoot much at all till just around Christmas, and the few times I did it felt like I was starting over, Funny how that works !

If all goes well I hope to be able to at least shoot something for January, tho I may have to leave the heavy rifles alone for a spell. That will no doubt kill my scores even more...
For now I am just thankful to be back on my feet and living with whatever limits God has in mind for me

Happy New Year to each one of you !
Bob
