If not for just barely I'd never shoot a good score. Nice target and rifle.

If it wasn't for the plug and the just barley's every one of mine would be a point or more lower. Built into the rules, and the field is level.

Now that's more like it. I thought I saw more points there. The plug is your friend.

No love in Carolina

I guess I should have waited but I hadn't shot in a week and was anxious to get back to it. I was doing pretty good, only down one (which is one too many) till I got to the last 2 bulls and dropped one on each bull for a 247-6X. One target left so I'll make myself hold off till I have done nothing in a day and feel really good. Is there such a day?

Going backwards it looks like. I'll try another tomorrow to see if my luck changes.

Bill...... I think it is sorta like what the deer hunters in this area refer to as the October Lull. They have a spell where they just aren't seeing many deer, just like we aren't seeing all the regular shooters, nor, in our case, the regular scores. LOL. As Lone Waite said, "we endeavor to persevere", you and I.

Nice shooting Max, Eric and Lee. I shot one today in the rain working on sorting out my setup. Shot a 235 6X so no improvement yet.

Well, my experiment was not successful as I would have liked. I checked everything out and over the last week or so shot a bunch of “grey monsters.” I had results from low 230s to just barely into the 240s. It didn’t seem to matter with different ammo, same results. Wind was a problem on some but not on others, but certainly not a major factor. It seems to just want to throw 8s. So, I pulled the plastic spacers and went back to 25 in lbs on the action screws. Shot a target for a 244 with SK PMS and another for a 245 with Eley Tenex.

It happens Mike. Just when you think you've got it figured out something happens and the scores just aren't there. I know someone else that is dealing with the same thing and he's asking ME for advise. I just tell him to keep shooting. Keep at it and focus on the fundememtals. That's what I've found works for me. I am never able to blame the rifle nor the ammunition. I just keep shooting, concentrating, and the scores come back. Same gun, setup, ammo. It'll really drive you nuts.

Sorry it didn't work out for you, Hicks. I put my spacers on both sides of the wood up front to form a triangle with the spacer under the tang. I think that is more stable (like a three-legged stool) than lining the spacers up in a straight line which would still allow some side to side teetering.

Hicks as SB is saying, you have to also stop sided to side movement. I have had good results with aluminum tape and never had adhesive problems. Maybe it had to do with the brand of tape or how old it is. Here is how I done my 455 years ago before doing Devcon. Since changing stocks I have done the same thing again, plus using a rubber barrel support at the end of the channel. This is on a 455, but will give you some idea of what your looking to do, and how to get there. https://www.rimfirecentral.com/forum....php?t=1092906

Tomorrow could be the day............. or Wednesday at the latest here. Weather is inbound and not much month left. Some floks had better get on the stick and get to the range........ or get in the shakey tower.

Hey, I know who you are talking about As I type this, I'm anxiously looking out the window at my mailbox... waiting for some 34 mm rings to arrive today. And yes, this is my first and maybe my last experiment with a 34 mm scope. No, it's not for this 25 Yard Match, so you can stop clutching your heart and resume breathing, Kirby

If it ever gets here and I get the scope mounted on this new Mauser M18 6.5 CM, I will use whatever range time I have left to get it up and running before going to deer camp the week after next.

I'm also getting dangerously low on Nashville Hot Marinated Grilled Squirrel to eat. Got only one more meal left before I am duty bound to go slay some more squirrels to eat.

During this busy season, "these difficult and challenging times" I depend upon you all to keep the Green Monsters thinned out enough that they don't dare come up on my porch while I'm away from Tremble Tower. The fate of the nation is in your hands. I've already voted, so I'm leaving the rest up to you gentlemen this month. I know you'll do the right thing.
