Mossberg 40

Was at the local Cabelas today, and they had a Mossberg model 40 on the rack..

Looked to be all original, had the old style finish on the stock, and some of the bluing had turned the brownish-color. Bolt handle was a big round knob, and was either Chrome or polished, it was a shiny silver color.

What I thought was very interesting, was that it looked to have a complete set of sights, with the No. 3 receiver sight being complete. It didn't have the hood on the front sight, but the rest was all there.

Price on it was $190. I passed on it, but thought it was neat to see in the wild.

I have never seen a labeled mossberg model 40, but have had a 44 and one WWF branded rifle. The 40 and 44 are pretty much identical, I do not have either anymore and cannot recall the model on the WWF.

Thanks D, those numbers do not ring any bells. It's also been awhile since I have had the WWF.

Unfortunately, yes. I already have a few 22 rifles (one of which is a complete Mossberg 146B T-Bolt that belonged to my grandmother). I also just picked up a Winchester 100 in 308 that I'm going to have to sneak into the safe.
