M60 charging handle

Although I have never had, or used, a Marlin 60 with the older style charging handle, the older style looks easier to use and maybe a little 'user friendly'. Does anyone who has used both have an opinion? Can older ones be bought and installed into a newer model?

Have you checked this page. No experience since I've never owned a 60.

I'm going to fit an older charging handle to my 795. It will have to be filed down to fit (the old ones are wider). That's my intention anyway. I'm just not a fan of that knurled drawer pull that they put on them now.

I have a low mounted scope on my Mod 75 (same action as the 60) and the OEM charging handle is a pain to get to under the windage adjustment knob. I changed it out with one of these...

DIP has a few different styles but none of them replicate the old-style hooked OEM one.

Vee3, that looks like it might be doable, a bit pricey but looks nice!

I had a similar issue with the charging handle and my scope. The scope is low enough to get in the way.

I took a .45acp shell casing and stuck it onto the factory (old style) charging handle. To keep it from being permanent (jb weld)I used reverse wrapped, sticky out, duct tape and then smushed the casing on. It has been on there for years now. It works great, it was free, and it was quick and easy.

Plus, it looks cool.

I bought the old style handle for my 795 and after a very small amount of filing, it works like a charm. I highly recommend it.
