It was difficult decision for me. I really didn't want to pay that much for a 77/22, but I've been looking locally for a couple years and have only seen beat up rifles. Since it was in such nice condition and the Feds gave me $1,200, I decided to buy it. I also have a 77/22 VBZ that is very accurate and only paid $385 for it new. That was 23 years ago however. How time flies.
If I saw a nice Kimber today for $700 I don't think I could get may wallet out fast enough. Kimber .22s seem to start at about $1,000, more for one in very good condition.

77/22
I loved the way they feel. My buddy's told me they won't shoot near what a CZ will. Bought a SS skeleton stocked 77/22 that looked new. Had a piece of junk scope 4X that wasn't even tightened down. Pricy. Adjusted the trigger and dang!!! Shooting SK Standard Plus was very very nice at 50yds. All touching and mostly looking like a 3 shot group.
Liked it so much found a first year manufactured wood and blue. Looks almost new. Trigger was already adjusted. Lupy 3x9. Shoots lights out. Guess I've been lucky..........

My late model (screw barrel) fiber stock, went to the range last week. After final zero, I set a fresh target at 50 yrds and off the bench put 5 rounds in the 10 and 2 X.
It has a Nikon 3x9 EFR with high Leupold rings and a VQ sear and spring. Think its a keeper.

Must be I got one of the good ones.I bought it new in 1997.I put a Timken trigger in it and scoped it with a Nikon Prostaff.I just recently shot a ragged one-hole group with it at 50 yards off the bench with Lapua Center-X ammo.Probably my favorite Sporter that I own.

Hope you meant Timney trigger. Timken makes bearings, mostly known for roller bearings, but also ball bearings and specialty bearings.

To me, the barrel was the weak point on the rifle. That's why I didn't hesitate to replace the barrel on my first 77/22. Glad I did, mine is lazer!

I traded a first year production 77/22 blue/walnut stocked this past week, very nice rifle. I have about 400 in mine, I thought that was a very good price considering you can't find them anymore around here. The last one I saw used was several years ago and it was well used in a local gun shop and they were asking 550 for it and I thought that was kind of high.

Off the bench at 50 yards with cci sv, inside a nickel, triggers light and crisp, got it used in a trade . It good enough for me , i didnt go look for bolt shims and triggers and gm barrels.
I also have one in 17 hmr in a boat paddle stock, but for some reason its not stainless? It shoots just fine too!
