I have the opportunity to buy a Winchester M1902

The bore looks nice, but I need to run a bore snake through it to be sure. The finish is grayed, but consistent and even. The only problem is the stock had been broken in two and taped back together again, a long time ago. Anyone know if there are repro stocks around ? My employer wants $95.00 for it.

Yes there are repo around. All I've seen are walnut and most of these had gum wood stocks. But for $95 dollars you can't go wrong.

Retired, please tell me what running a bore snake through would tell you ? If you ran a bore scope through it, that would tell you much more.

Gunville will likely have a repro stock. But a little final fitting will be required. Otherwise check Ebay and GB..Sounds like a deal to me.

I should have said the first two years production used a metal butt plate. There are no replacements that i know of for these. Is it a short long or a short long extra long ?

Shucks, I missed out on it. It had the plastic buttplate and was chambered for 22 short, long and extra long. Oh well, there'll be others.
