Model 67
Greetings; been mostly on the Mossy and CZ forums, but dabble in Winchesters. Found a pretty nice 67 today and think it's an early one (finger groove stock, knurled take-down screw, smooth trigger face. chromed bolt). Am I possibly correct on vintage? I'm thinking ~1935 or so. Also, has 'vintage' looking swivels that have been on this rifle a long time. I don't know if Winchester had sling swivels as OEM. Thoughts? Will be cleaning and shooting tomorrow. Here it is in it's natural environs. Shoots great even after all these years. Wonder how many meals it provided?

Nice old rifle.
It seems like you're getting heavier into older .22's just like I did,and you're finding some pretty nice ones.

Tnx LarDaBear. You are correct. These old rifles are pieces of history IMO. I love finding them, taking a little effort to get them ready, then get them out into the woods. This one is a real gem. I do enjoy other firearms, but it just isn't the same as shooting these old-timers.

Oh, cost me $150 OTD at LGS. I thought that was very fair. I try to support the "brick and mortar" shops (pawn and gun) in my area to the extent possible. One never knows what they may find.

Winchester 67
I bought a 67 back in the late ‘70s for my son when he was big enough to handle a rifle. The single shot with a manual cocking action is the best way to teach a young shooter firearm protocol.

Nice looking rifle. Finger grove stocks were used until the late 1930's. Early ones had a bolt retaining pin on the left side looking from the rear.( small steel pin about 2 inches long) Swivels were a factory option but I've never seen any i thought were factory.

Tnx Jay, Grinch and Springer! I'll go take a look for that retainer pin. These swivels are undoubtedly old -- only thing that makes me think they might not be OEM is rear swivel placement. Hard to be sure tho.

A good-lookin' example of a Model 67. Thanks for posting it.
An early one lives here. It's not nearly so fine though. I admire its lines with the graceful 27-inch barrel.
