That is a good deal on the Black Talons, they usually go for about 40 bucks and up at auctions.

Where to find rimfire boxes? Or other boxes? Gunbroker has many, but many of them are overpriced. A couple of good auctions are Engel's Collectibles, Pete deCoux, Sold USA, but I rarely look at Sold USA...few items, mostly real high dollar stuff. Best auction I have found is Ward's Auction. Thousands of boxes and singles of rifle, pistol and shotgun ammo, a few guns, and collectible related items. They have 4 auctions each year, there is one currently in progress, ends Feb. 24. Be prepared, some of those guys have deep pockets.

Ward's is the best of the on-line auctions. Have not looked at Pdbullets, anyone that charges just to look at their stuff is either to high for me or does not have that good stuff to begin with.

Pdbullets is pretty much the same as Ward's, they charge for the catalog, prices for items are in the same vein as Ward's and they do have good stuff. Here's a low-res copy of their last auction #15 from this past December. Their other auctions are very similar in content.

That's a good selection! I like the Chiclets box.

Rocket Box

Too bad the Rocket box didn't still have it's red plastic pull to open the box. I shot many of those boxes when I was a kid, and didn't have enough money that week to buy a box of 50 rounds. If you collect these boxes, there are 4 variations of this box. A right and left pull strip, and cartridges with and without a cannelure holding the bullet in place ( with the right and left pull strips) .

And to make it more interesting collecting those little boxes, there is the ever elusive PETERS Thunderbolt box, 22 short. That's a toughie to locate.
I was fortunate to locate them all right many years ago. Glad I don't have to start looking for them now. Sticker shock first class in top condition.

I have two bricks of Rockets and two bricks of thunder bolts in my collection. The four bricks have the pull strips on the right side. Wonder what side is rarer? The Rockets and Thunder Bolts are basically the same shell as the #6722 Remington Gallery round and # 2205 Peters KRUMBLE BALL gallery round.

Pull Strips

The position of the pull strips probably depend on which way they were fed into the sealing machine. Besides right and left pull strips, there are cannelured and non- cannelured brass to hold the bullets in place. I do not know which came first.
