Another 1890 Question

Log in to see fewer ads
Hi again,

Another quick question, on my 1890 the magazine tube has come loose from the barrel, in that small spot with the dovetail on the bottom of the barrel? I'll try and upload a photo. Is there an epoxy or some type of adhesive or cement I could squeeze in there with a toothpick to get it back into place and clamp it to dry?

Thanks,
Cliff

The mag tube mount rotates in the dove tail slot. It is NOT driven in. Check you slot, someone might have driven it out and damaged the mount. If it will rotate into position but is loose, take a center punch and raise a few divots in the notch to tighten up the mount. Hope this helps.

I didn't realize that. I'll take another look at it and see if the tube rotates at all. Thanks for your help.

This method of attaching the mag tube mount is common to many Winchesters, it was used on the old Model 1873s.

Boy do I feel dumb, yes, that worked. I'm learning (I've only owned the rifle since 1975!). Thanks all.
